This is referred to as a "split rudder" because of the dual sections. The smaller, top section gets embedded into the hull for a secure fit. Since these rudders can handle large amounts of pressure this section will ensure the rudder shaft doesn't spin loose in the shaft hole in the hull.

Brass Strut
Use this strut to help support your drive shaft and stuffing box. The tube portion slides over your stuffing box and the plate installs into the bottom of your hull. With everything aligned properly this will provide your shaft with great support.

From the options:
.338" (8.6mm) will fit the Harbor Models' 3/16" Shaft and Stuffing Box
.310" (7.8mm) will fit the Harbor Models' 4mm Shaft and Stuffing Box
.218" (5.5mm) will fit the Harbor Models' 1/8" Shaft and Stuffing Box

Triangular piece is 5-3/4" long. Will fit up to a 3/8" diameter stuffing box.
Shape the triangular piece to the profile of your hull with some sanding and run the stuffing box through the two pieces. Glue/epoxy them together for a watertight, strong finish. From inside the hull put two small screws through the bottom into the shaft support and glue/epoxy around the holes.

Depending on the contour of your hull the finish product should look something like this:
